I've always considered myself a citizen journalist, working for "the people," whether employed by commercial or public media - TV, radio, magazines, newspapers, online, self, paid or not.
Journalism isn't a job, profession, trade or vocation, it's a calling. A calling requiring undying, lifelong passion. Passion to know, passion to inform, passion to share, passion to care, passion to protect, passion to right wrongs, passion for truth.
That's the first thing that came to me reading your reflections today. "Ron, you're a citizen journalist."
Your letter was one of my favorite things in this entire crazy experience. Newsroom staff got a big kick out of it, too. One of them (Jaya) is threatening to put that jackass line on a tshirt!Thank you. And thanks for subscribing. Speaking of MV: where should I meet in town with a semi-acquainted candidate interested in my former job on a weekday at 11 a.m.? Not kidding!
Just want to say that I am a great admirer of your sentences. Also, that English teacher!!! What a gem. Really excited about this newsletter.
Great stuff. Loved your take on caulkins. Not sure how he still as a job. Worst columnist I’ve read.
Ron…Your work and writing at CDN is definitely missed! Perhaps you would consider contributing occasionally at http://nwcitizen.com
No pay involved but I’m sure they’d love to have your voice there.

You quoted my letter, how could I not subscribe? Don't forget to poke around Mount Vernon every once in a while.
